A Cancer diagnosis is life changing and the last thing on your mind should be your dishes or whether your floor is vacuumed and your beds made. Cancer impacts us in so many ways not only physically but mentally. It is exhausting! However the stark reality is that whilst you are recovering or receiving treatment what once were simple things can become hard or even impossible for you and your family.
Currently there is no government support or funding for Cancer patients and their families with household tasks, vacuuming, light gardening and washing clothes. Speaking with Oncology Social Workers, doctors, nurses and other patients we began to realise that there was a real lack of support in this field, having had own first hand experience with this as well. Healing isn't just about the body its about the mindset too. A clean, healthy home is essential for you and your family. That's where 'Healing Homes' comes in.
Healing Homes provides free home cleaning services to anyone who is recovering from Cancer surgery, receiving Active Cancer treatment or is in Hospice Care. We cover the Canterbury, New Zealand area. We use donated New Zealand Eco-friendly products but we are also happy to use your own cleaning products if you like. Our equipment is sterilised and sanitised after each use to give you peace of mind. All of our volunteers are police checked and adhere to strict Health and Safety and Cross Contamination protocols and guidelines to keep families safe and well.
